Billboard 200: Blackpink Make History With #1 Debut

Published: Monday 26th Sep 2022 by Ryan

Blackpink have found themselves in the record books thanks to their most recent album, ‘Born Pink.’

More details below…

According to Billboard, the set opened with 102,000 equivalent album units, with over 75,000 coming from pure sales alone. As such, it allowed them to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Because of this, Blackpink has now become just third Korean act to top the tally. Previously, only BTS and Stray Kids were the only acts to reach the summit. What’s more, Blackpink has now the first all female K-pop act to top the chart.

Additionally, ‘Born Pink’ becomes the first album by a girl group to top the Billboard 200 chart since Danity Kane did so with their album ‘Welcome to the Dollhouse’ in 2008.

‘Born Pink’ is the group’s second top 10 album and follows 2020’s ‘The Album,’ which debuted and peaked at #2.
